Finally. He had proof of Sophia being in the woods, a sign that she had run off and perhaps was surviving well on her own in the woods just as he had. Nine days he spent by himself in the woods. The difference between the situations were that no one looked for him. In fact, he returned and made a sandwich with neither his father or brother noticing his absence. Sophia had a group of people looking for her in the woods. She had the love and support of the group that he was never given from his father or brother. Despite the conditions, not much proof had turned up until now. By the small body of water, he had found her doll. It was a doll that had belonged to the little girl that had left the group with her family before they traveled to the CDC. Daryl had picked the doll up, putting it in his back pocket of his pants as he prepared to climb the cliff yet again. Moments ago, he had been unconsciousness, seeing his brother mock him. Luckily, he had regained consciousness in time to find a walker gnawing on his shoe. Within a matter of seconds, the situation intensified. He had managed to get his hands on a stick that enabled him to kill the walker. Moans were heard and yet another walker approached him rather quickly. Daryl worked to get the arrow lodged in his side out, causing plenty pain for himself. Managing to get the arrow out in time, he loaded it into the crossbow, hitting the walker in the head. With the death of the two walkers, he took a moment to get his thoughts together.
He cut the ears off of the walkers that had tried to feed themselves on him, making a necklace out of the cloth of his sleeve. The rest of his sleves were used to be tied around his waist, putting pressure on the wound from the arrow. Beginning the journey back up the cliff, he heard the sound of Merle's voice. He offered his hand to Daryl, saying to grab his friend, Rick's hand. Encouraging him to shoot Rick as soon as he returned to the farm. Despite the mocking of being 'weak', Daryl had managed to make it up the cliff. He hadn't replied much to Merle the second time around. Rather than use his anger on words, he used it in strength to get up the cliff. He had told Merle to shut up though along with saying, "Yeah, you better run!" when he got to the top of the cliff. Walking off, Daryl began to walk back towards the farm. A limp was acquired from being thrown off the horse, slowing him down. Daryl muttered under his breath, "Stupid bitch", referring to the horse that had thrown him off. If the horse had not thrown him off, he perhaps could have continued to find more proof of Sophia surviving in the woods. Making it to the outskirts of the woods, he hoped in his mind that no one in the group would mistaken him for a walker. He couldn't help the appearance given the wound to his side along with a cut on his face. His head was hung low, the pain in his head was still there. It was from getting thrown from the horse though he could've guessed it was just a migraine. Nothing severe since he didn't land on his neck. Making it out of the woods, he came into view of the farm, approaching it. He could hear the sound of people running towards him. Despite the noises, he didn't look up right away since his ears were ringing from the pain in his head. The only thing that stopped him from continuing forward was when he lifted his head up finally. His eyes ended up on the sight of Rick with a gun to his face for a third time. Glenn had asked, "Is that Daryl?"
Daryl said, "That's the third time, you've pointed that gun at my face. You gonna pull the trigger or what?" After that statement was made, the four men lowered the guns though the sound of a gun shot ran throughout the land. A bullet grazed the left side of his head and he went down. The moment was a bit of a blur for him. He heard Rick shouting, 'No!' and felt himself get pulled up. The last thing he remembered saying to Rick was, "I was kidding" before blacking out.

Things had been kind of crazy lately. The new group of survivors that had wandered onto their farm had thrown her dad into a frenzy. He didn't like that they were there, so day to day activities were pain in the ass with him supervising. Another thing that had started...that maybe shouldn't have started...was some kind of thing with Glenn- one of the Atlanta folk. She may or may not have had sex with him...numerous times. Their options were limited, okay? And to sum it up, she needed the comfort. That only left confusing feelings for her. A potential relationship right now was not something that she wanted to get into. She didn't even know how long they would last on the farm. Sure, they had a fence around the property, but that wouldn't really stand up to a large herd. And what about the walkers they were keeping in their barn? If the survivors found out, they'd want to kill them on the spot. Or kill the walkers, which would be a disaster. If there was a cure out there, her dad wanted to find it and she believed that he'd be the one to do it. But with all of this pressure coming from the group on the farm, it wasn't likely that it'd be done anytime soon. Not until they left, at least.
Maggie was sitting in her old bedroom when she heard a shot fired outside. The group of survivors had been target practicing earlier, so she didn't think much of it. That is, until she heard the voice of Rick, followed by other jumbled voices. Maggie got up off of her bed, moving down the stairs of her old home quickly. When she got to the bottom of the steps, she bolted for the door, thinking that her dad might've shot one of the Atlanta survivors. By the time that she got out to the group of people, she realized that they had shot one of their own. Daryl, who had been gone several days, was covered in blood on the ground. Maggie pushed her way through the bystanders, kneeling on the ground next to him. She looked at his wounds, but not before she noticed a necklace around his neck...of ears. Maggie made a face, glancing up at the people around her. "Well, what are ya'll waiting for? We can't just leave him layin' here. And who's the dumbass that shot him?" Her southern accent was strong, as was her voice. How could someone shoot one of their own? However, he looked like he had the shit beat out of him. It was becoming more clear why Andrea, the blonde wonder, had mistaken him for a walker.
It wasn't until after her dad had patched him up that she made her way to a guest bedroom to visit him. She didn't know him that well, but she felt that she related to him...at least a little bit. But then again, she didn't know a whole lot about him. Even though the door wasn't shut, she brushed her knuckles against it lightly, walking in without an invitation. After all, it was their home. "How are you holdin' up, you tough son of a bitch?" she grinned. From how he looked earlier, she reckoned that not many people would be able to survive like he did. At least, not without being turned into a walker. "You looked worse for wear when I saw you earlier. What the hell happened?" Of course, the others had been talking, but she didn't want to pry. She'd rather hear it come out of his mouth. People had a way of glorifying events around here. Maggie sat down in chair next to the bed, glancing at him. She noticed that he didn't have the ear necklace on anymore. "And what happened to your ear collection?" she arched an eyebrow. Rick may have tried to hide it, but her vision was perfect. It was hard to hide things around Miss Maggie.

Things had been a bit hectic since Sophia had gone missing. Carl had been shot soon after they had lost Sophia. Shane had gone out with a man named Otis for supplies to save Carl's life. The trip resulted in only Shane returning which led to Daryl having doubts about the bullshit story that Shane told. He didn't voice his opinion though as Rick would still stick by Shane's side. The two were inseperable best friends, having relied on each other as police officers. It seemed Daryl was one of the few to notice that Shane was losing it a bit. Dale was bound to be the other person to notice it. In his opinion, Shane sacrificed Otis to save himself. He had seen it before at the camp. Shane would always protect Carl and Lori over anyone else even if it meant someone else would die. Rick, on the other hand, would do his best to make sure everyone lived. It was more shocking given the fact that Carl and Lori were his family. The difference between the two best friends was so obvious that some could question why they had managed to stay in a friendship. Also, the added fact of Lori's close relationship with Shane was just the icing on the cake. Before Rick had come to the camp, people had pictured Shane as being with Lori. She never spoke about her 'dead' husband as it brought back too many bad memories. As for Carl, he was the one that always talked about Rick. He thought of Shane as his best friend though could not forget about his father. Something that Shane probably hoped would become a memory, if Rick had stayed dead.
The farm was slowly becoming the place that the group could call a 'home'. With Carl slowly healing up from his gunshot, the group had been welcomed onto the farm. Though Hershel was not very accepting of this idea, considering it to only be temporary. It was for until Carl was healed then he hoped to send the group on their way. He was rather elderly though showed a toughness. He was resilient about things being his way or the highway. A knowledge of medication enabled him to be a valuable asset to the group, if an agreement was to be worked out between him and Rick. Four other people lived on the farm, all much younger than Hershel. The second eldest was Patricia. She had been greatly saddened by Otis' death due to their relationship together. Patricia had been weeping when she found out about his death. She didn't seem to be as strong as her father. If any skills had been shown thus far of survival, it was her ability to help her father. Her younger sister, Maggie was the woman that had rode out on a horse to get the remaining group members when Carl had been shot. She appeared to have something for Glenn, something that wasn't to be exactly determined. Daryl wasn't an eavesdropper, but could tell when certain things would go on in the group. Rather being more observant than social, so to say. She was about as tough as Hershel, showing that she would probably be the one to survive out of all her siblings. Beth was the youngest of the daughters. She was a daddy's girl, who helped along with him when Carl had been shot. The girl was very quiet, mostly only speaking to her family or Carl. Jimmy was her boyfriend, someone that could probably use a gun well. Daryl hadn't been socializing with the farm folks as much as the rest of the group had. Instead, he was more focused on looking for Sophia. Some people could wonder why he would be looking for her when he had never talked much with her at the camp. The reason was that he felt a relation to her. They both had abusive fathers. Both had ended up on their own, left to survive. Also, Daryl sort of wanted to prove to the group that he could be just as good as any of the other male members. If he was the one to find Sophia, no doubt people would view him as someone that they would need down the road. T-Dog was the first to see it when Daryl helped save him on the highway despite what happened to Merle.
Having gone looking for Sophia by himself, had been the smartest move that he had made. It resulted in him finding her doll. He had taken a bullet and an arrow for the girl. Having woken up, Hershel had stitched up the grazed bullet wound on the side of his head. All that was left, was the wound from the arrow. Hershel had been working on stitching it as Daryl sat up using the support of his arm since he was laying down. A map was out as Daryl discussed with Rick, more paths to look around for Sophia. The doll was on the end table, something that he would give to Carol when he was back on his feet. It was her little girl, so she should have it. Hershel soon finished, advising him to rest. After that, the two men left the room, leaving Daryl to stare up at the ceiling as he laid there. While the pain of the wounds was there, he wasn't as pissed off as he would have been back when Rick told him about Merle's disappearance. His temper had somewhat calmed down since Merle had been gone. No doubt, he'd do something to Andrea, if she shot him again. She didn't have terrible aim, so next time it could end up being a fatal shot. Daryl looked up as he heard someone walk in. The room was lit, so it wasn't hard to see who it was. Hershel's daughter, Maggie. They had not talked much at all since the group had came to the farm. It was surprise that she had come up to visit him considering Hershel was a bit sore from having lost a horse. She started to speak and he listened, preferring to let her continue on and on until she got out everything that she had to ask or talk about. Maggie wanted to know what happened. Daryl wasn't the type of guy to open up to anyone. He wouldn't mention Merle appearing. Him hallucinating. None of that, too sentimental. Too personal for her to know. Daryl said, "Simple. Found the doll. Got attacked by two walkers. Killed them. Made it back here. Your damn horse threw me off, only downside to the story." It was rather simple telling of the story, to just keep details out of it. Anyone that knew him, knew that an arrow in his side wasn't something that would happen ever. The only way would be by some other human or by landing on one of the arrows on his back. She had questioned about the ear collection. Daryl said, "Well, woman if you saw them then you know where they ended up. Dumb question." Growing up, he had never had much respect for women nor colored folks. Considering they were in her house, he wasn't going to be entirely disrespectful. He could hear the noise of the rest of the household, getting ready for a big dinner. Something that he was glad to be missing out on since he preferred fresh kill over anything cooked. Something that he had come to prefer since the lack of electricity and gas.
